This award will enable FFI and local partners to identify and plan priority actions in scientific research, governance systems, capacity building and financing for advancing integrated planning and ecosystem-based management (EBM) of marine habitats and fisheries. Building on existing efforts in each UKOT, activities will include:
• A scoping study tour (5 days) in each Territory:
o Stakeholder analysis and consultations to identify goals and values for marine ecosystems and their governance;
o Analysis of institutional and regulatory frameworks for marine conservation and participatory examination of optimal governance mechanisms;
o Analysis of process and priority needs for i) national marine spatial management; ii) management planning for priority marine sites;
• EBM capacity building workshop (linked to Anguilla study tour) for staff from both implementing partner organisations, supported by regional EBM experts and FFI. Will include Anguilla marine protected area (MPA) system visit.
